Gen Z and Companies: Who Sets the Pace?

Published on 26th March 2026

Gen Z is often labeled as disloyal or difficult to retain. The data suggests otherwise.

A recent study by Pulso Latam on Gen Z and the workplace in Latin America shows that young professionals are not walking away from organizations because they lack commitment. They are leaving when companies fail to provide what matters most: clear opportunities for growth, fair compensation, flexibility, authentic culture and leadership that matches words with action.

Gen Z Gravitates Toward a Strong Work Environment

The findings are clear. Gen Z stays where there is a strong work environment, room to develop and a sense of belonging. They value purpose, but they also expect consistency.

They want to see organizational values reflected in real decisions, real leadership and real opportunities to advance.

Employers Need Refreshed Retention Strategies

For employers across markets, the takeaway is straightforward: retention strategies built on legacy assumptions are breaking down. To attract and keep the next generation of talent, organizations need to redesign the employee experience around growth, flexibility, communication and credibility.

The question is no longer whether Gen Z will adapt to the workplace. It is whether companies are willing to evolve fast enough to keep pace.
