This post wasn’t written by an AI content tool, but it could have been. The new chatbot, ChatGPT, is being tested across multiple industries, digital marketing and public relations included. Can this new AI tool add value to your marketing efforts in 2023? To help answer this question, Worldcom partner Dix & Eaton tested the tool three different ways:

My Question to ChatGPT:

Can you write social media copy about ESG reports?

ChatGPT’s Answer:

We were surprised to see that the copy even included hashtags (commonly used in social media copy to help people interested in various topics to find information related to it), but that was a pleasant surprise. The posts even seem like they follow other social media best practices like character count.

However, there are some flaws that we noticed. As you can see, all the hashtags are the same in each piece of content, and they’re somewhat limited (but that doesn’t mean you can’t add to them!). While each of the examples are fairly similar, they are well-written and reference the types of information most companies would want to include in their social media copy.

A Use Case for You: Jumpstarting Content Development

If your company isn’t fortunate enough to have an internal or external team that’s solely dedicated to your social media efforts, ChatGPT could be a useful resource for helping to generate some foundational copy that you can then personalize for your company. An AI tool like this could also be useful for writers developing articles or blog posts on a topic they’ve never written about before – maybe even more for grounding/research than to actually use verbatim in the article itself.

While it doesn’t seem likely that ChatGPT will replace humans anytime soon, this AI tool has the potential to help creatives brainstorm and get over writer’s block.
