In a recent Infobae article, Mariana Jasper of Alurralde, Jasper + Asociados explores how logistics and foreign trade companies can strengthen client relationships by moving beyond the role of service provider and becoming more deeply integrated strategic partners.
In the article, Vice president and Partner Jasper discusses how logistics companies often possess valuable expertise, market knowledge and operational insight that can benefit clients well beyond the immediate services they provide. By sharing that expertise and developing relationships across multiple functions within a client organization, logistics providers can create stronger, more resilient business partnerships.
“No tenemos confianza el uno con el otro y encima no tenemos ni tiempo de escucharnos,” said Jasper. or in English “We don’t trust each other, and on top of that, we don’t even have time to listen to one another.”
Jasper argues that companies should look beyond a traditional buyer-supplier relationship and create connections across areas such as leadership, finance, sustainability, procurement and sales. These additional points of contact can help organizations identify new opportunities, solve problems more effectively and reduce the risk associated with relationships that depend on a single person or function.
In addition, Jasper talks baout two broader communications challenges facing organizations today: declining trust and increasing competition for attention. She emphasizes that companies need to intentionally build trust with stakeholders while developing communications systems that are capable of adapting to uncertainty and change.
Drawing on the concept of antifragility, she recommends moving away from communications strategies dependent on one spokesperson, one message or one channel. Instead, organizations can become more resilient by developing multiple credible voices, communicating through different channels and reinforcing important narratives in ways that are relevant to different audiences.
For logistics companies, the opportunity is particularly significant. Their expertise touches almost every part of modern commerce, giving them the ability to contribute strategic insight—not simply execute transactions.
