Thailand is a middle-income country in Southeast Asia with Bangkok as the capital that is the center of development and the most prosperous part of the country. Thailand main export industries are automotive, electronic goods manufacturing, it is- the world’s largest export of rice. Tourism and property play significant role in the country’s economy.

The 2006 coup and subsequent political uncertainty have dampened the country’s economic growth. Forecast on the 2008 is between 4.5 and 5.5%. GDP growth in 2007 was driven mostly by relatively strong exports, despite continuing appreciation of the baht against the dollar. This suggested that the fundamentals of the Thai productive economy remained strong.

PR industry in Thailand is still in its early stage with more international companies than locals engage themselves in PR, though this is changing. There're 6 TV stations, 1 major cable, hundreds of newspapers and magazines. Thai media are independent, generally honest, and passive but nothing is off the record. They like to report on facts and figures, not much on opinions. They expect to be treated exceptionally special. Fam trips need to be accompanied, coverage can be expected no commitment on the size. All material must be translated into Thai.
