Worldcom Partner Guy Chaplin of TQPR Malaysia Passes Away
Was past Worldcom Asia Pacific Region Chair and Membership Chair
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Thursday, November 5, 2009 - It is with great sadness that Worldcom reports the death of our partner and friend Guy Chaplin of TQPR Malaysia, who passed away suddenly in his home last Sunday, November 1, in Kuala Lumpur from an apparent heart attack.
Guy was chair of the Asia Pacific Region from 2001 - 2003 and Membership Chair of the region from 1999 – 2001 and again from 2004 – 2006, thus contributing greatly to membership development in the region since he joined Worldcom. He was also an associate of our Worldcom partner firm TQPR Thailand and owner of TQPR Vietnam. He collaborated with many Worldcom partners over the years on multi-partner projects for shared clients.
Guy is survived by wife, Shane and children, Charles and Zoe who are in university in Australia, and a sister, Annie, who lives in Bolivia. He also leaves his many associates in the TQPR Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam offices.
Guy was a founding partner of TQPR Malaysia and the Chief Executive Officer of the TQPR Asia-Pacific network, based in Malaysia. With 30 years experience in Asia-Pacific, he spent 15 years with two global PR firms (Burson-Marsteller and Edelman Public Relations Worldwide) in Australia and Asia. He lived and worked in Malaysia for over 21 years. Guy’s agency expertise covered a broad range of public relations applications, from marketing communications to financial, corporate, professional, business-to-business and industrial accounts. A graduate in Public Relations from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, he was also a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and the International Public Relations Association.
